Definition of Tumbang Preso

Tumbang Preso is a traditional Filipino outdoor game that is typically played by children. It involves knocking over a can with a slipper (or sandal) while trying to avoid being tagged by a player. It is similar to games like dodgeball but requires skill and speed in throwing and evading.

How to Play

In Tumbang Preso, one player is chosen to be the player, who is tasked with guarding the can placed at the center of a designated playing area. The rest of the players take turns attempting to knock over the can by throwing a slipper at it. Once the can is knocked over, players must quickly run to a designated safe zone without being tagged by the player.

Steps for Playing Tumbang Preso

Step 1: Draw a line for the hitters and draw a circle for the can.

Step 2: The seeker begins searching for hidden players after count. The guard of the can is chosen by a game by throwing the slipper on the line, who the farthest is the one to guard.

Step 3: The hitters should be ready to hit the can using a a slipper but they will never cross the toe-line. the slippers could retrieve if they could knock down the can.

Step 4: If the hitters is not able to retrieve his slipper, the guard will get the can, and the guard must hit the slipper so the owner of slipper he or she is the new guard.

Step 5: It should be fast so to put the can inside the circle and tag one of the hitter.
